Privacy
What we keep, who sees it, and how to make it go away.
What we keep
Your brown.edu address, your name, your class year and level, three photos, and your answers to the questionnaire. Your messages, while a conversation is open. That is the whole list.
We do not store your IP address, your device, your location, or anything about where else you go on the internet. There are no third-party trackers and no advertising.
Who sees what
The person you are introduced to each week sees your three photos, your first name, your class year, your prompts, your interests, a few Brown favourites, and anything you switched on. They see your pronouns only if you turned that on, and your level only if the two of you are in different pools.
Nobody sees your answers. The matching reads them; people do not. That includes us. There is no screen anywhere in this product, for anyone, that shows another person’s answers.
Nobody sees who you passed on, who passed on you, who you blocked, or who you were shown. A pass looks exactly like a week ending.
Your last name and your email are on your account for safety. An administrator can see them. They can read a conversation only when someone has reported it.
Who else touches it
Supabase stores the database and the photos, in the United States. Vercel serves the site. Postmark sends the email. Those three, and nobody else.
How long
Until you delete your account. When a conversation ends, its messages are kept for thirty days in case someone reports it, then deleted.
Making it go away
Settings has a button that deletes your account. It removes your photos, your answers, your profile, and your conversations. It is immediate and it cannot be undone.
The same screen will hand you a copy of everything we hold about you, as a file.
Asking us
Write to hello@cupidonthayer.com and a person will answer. Cupid on Thayer is not a Brown University product and Brown has no access to any of this.
